What is Dental Sedation?
With dental sedation, we have numerous techniques we can use to help patients feel more comfortable during dental procedures.
At Slave Lake Dental, we do everything within our power to help patients feel comfortable and at ease during their dental appointments. In addition to offering sedation options, we take breaks if you need them, work at your pace and provide calm reassurance as required.

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Inhaled through the mouth and nose, nitrous oxide helps calm patients, though they remain awake and able to communicate. This medication also tends to increase pain threshold, lessen anxiety, make time seem to pass more quickly and reduce gag reflex.
Oral Sedation
Your dentist can prescribe oral sedatives in liquid or pill form. Take an initial dose of this medication orally about an hour before a dental appointment. It leaves you awake for the procedure, though it produces a calming effect to significantly relax you.
