At Slave Lake Dental, the technology we use helps us provide patients with efficient dental care including dental lasers, digital x-rays and intraoral scanners.
Technologies at Our Dental Clinic
At Slave Lake Dental, we leverage technology to help us plan effective and efficient dental treatments, and to ensure your appointments run smoothly. Since we can display digital scans and x-rays on the monitors located in our treatment rooms, we're able to show you any issues in your mouth, and guide you through your treatment plan.
We're on a mission to provide our patients with efficient dental care, and ensure they are fully informed regarding their oral health. Dental technology helps us accomplish this objective.
Digital X-Rays
Digital x-rays replace traditional photographic x-ray film with digital sensors to bring us highly detailed computer images of the teeth and gums, in addition to other oral structures and conditions. This allows your dentist to examine parts of the mouth that are not visible to the naked eye. Within seconds, we can see your x-rays on the monitor.
Panoramic X-Rays
Using panoramic x-rays, your dentist can create a single flat image of your entire mouth. This image represents your teeth, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), nasal and sinus structures and upper and lower jaws. Panoramic x-rays are usually used to help plan treatments for implants, braces, extractions and dentures.
Soft Tissue Dental Lasers
Dental lasers are used in a range of soft tissue procedures, typically for healing and repair purposes. they help our dentists perform dental procedures such as lengthening crowns, reshaping gums while reducing pain and treating periodontal disease, in addition to minimizing the need for medical interventions.
iTero Intraoral Scanner
The iTero® intraoral scanner takes extremely accurate, 3D impressions of your bite. With this technology, we can plan your dental treatment in real time, capture highly accurate data within minutes, store it digitally and create digital replicas of the hard and soft tissues of your mouth to make Invisalign clear aligners.
Oral Cancer Screening Device
The VELscope® oral cancer screening device assists the dentist in spotting diseases and abnormalities in your mouth, including cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. With fluorescence visualization technology, this test can be done in your dentist's office during routine exams, under normal lighting conditions within about two minutes.
Cone Beam Cat Scan
This special type of x-ray machine generates 3D images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bone in the craniofacial region - all in a single scan. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images allow us to precisely plan treatments, including checking your airway for snoring and sleep apnea treatment.
Digital Photography
Digital photography and dentistry go hand-in-hand, as digital images can be taken of both inside and outside the mouth to provide an accurate, crisp and clear view of oral health issues and conditions within seconds.
ApneaLink Sleep Tester
The ApneaLinkAir™ is a home sleep testing device used to record oxygen saturation, nasal flow, pulse, respiratory effort and snoring. The device is worn while you sleep to help dentists gather data and diagnose sleep apnea in patients.
